Trivaris was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Irvine, California, that focused on the development of innovative ophthalmic drug delivery systems. The company is best known for developing a proprietary, preservative-free injectable suspension of triamcinolone acetonide, which was designed to treat inflammatory conditions of the eye while minimizing the risk of preservative-related toxicity. In 2004, Trivaris was acquired by Allergan, which integrated the technology into its market-leading ophthalmology portfolio. The lead product was eventually approved by the FDA in 2008 under the brand name TRIVARIS for the treatment of uveitis and other ocular inflammatory conditions.
