Tropon-Cutter

Tropon-Cutter was a pharmaceutical entity formed through the integration of two major Bayer AG acquisitions: the German firm Troponwerke and the American company Cutter Laboratories. Operating primarily as a subsidiary in international markets such as Italy, the company specialized in blood products, vaccines, and protein-based therapeutics. Tropon contributed expertise in metabolic and nutritional products, while Cutter was a pioneer in plasma-derived therapies and hospital supplies. Following Bayer's strategic reorganization, the Tropon-Cutter brand was eventually phased out as its operations were fully consolidated into Bayer's global pharmaceutical division. Notably, the plasma-related assets originating from Cutter were later divested by Bayer to Talecris Biotherapeutics, which is now part of Grifols. Today, the legacy of Tropon-Cutter persists through the continued commercial success of products like Kogenate and various immunoglobulin therapies.
