TRW Inc. was a major American technology conglomerate that operated for over a century before its acquisition by Northrop Grumman in 2002. While primarily known for its leadership in aerospace, defense, and automotive systems, TRW also maintained a significant presence in the healthcare sector through its Business Intelligence Systems unit. This division developed specialized software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, most notably the TRW Smart Charts for Pharmaceuticals, which provided advanced data analysis and reporting for drug development and competitive intelligence. Following its acquisition, TRW's space and defense operations were integrated into Northrop Grumman, while its automotive business was spun off and eventually acquired by ZF Friedrichshafen.
