U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention

The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is an independent, scientific nonprofit organization that sets global standards for the identity, strength, quality, and purity of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements. Its standards are published in the United States Pharmacopeia and the National Formulary (USP–NF), which are legally recognized in the U.S. and utilized in over 140 countries. USP provides more than 3,500 reference standards—highly characterized physical specimens used to ensure the quality of medicines during manufacturing. The organization also offers verification services, training, and technical assistance to strengthen global health systems and medicine supply chains.
