Company intelligence / Profile preview
UAD Laboratories was a specialty pharmaceutical company headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, primarily focused on the marketing and distribution of branded prescription drugs. The company gained significant recognition for its pain management portfolio, most notably the analgesic Lorcet, a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. In addition to analgesics, UAD marketed treatments for respiratory conditions and otic infections, including the widely used UAD Otic drops. In 1989, the company was acquired by Forest Laboratories for approximately $33 million, a move that significantly bolstered Forest's presence in the analgesic market and expanded its national sales force. Today, the legacy of UAD's products resides within AbbVie, following a series of industry consolidations involving Forest Laboratories, Allergan, and Actavis.
