Overview
UB Therapeutics is an Israeli biotechnology company focused on developing novel cyclic peptide therapies for the treatment of multiple myeloma. Founded in 2023 as a spin-off from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, the company's core technology targets ubiquitin protein chains to disrupt their function and inhibit proteasomal degradation. Its lead candidate, UB4a-GRR (also referred to as Ub4a), is a chemically synthetic, highly non-proteinogenic cyclic peptide that blocks the action of deubiquitinases and the proteasome, inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. By directly targeting ubiquitin chains rather than the catalytic subunits of the proteasome, UB Therapeutics aims to overcome the drug resistance commonly associated with FDA-approved proteasome inhibitors like bortezomib.
