United Payors and United Providers (UP&UP) was a healthcare management services company that specialized in providing Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) networks. The company functioned as an intermediary, contracting with a nationwide network of hospitals and physicians to offer discounted healthcare rates to payors, such as insurance companies, third-party administrators, and self-insured employers. By aggregating provider access, UP&UP helped reduce medical costs for its clients while increasing patient volume for its member healthcare providers. The company was publicly traded on the NASDAQ before its acquisition by Mid Atlantic Medical Services (MAMSI) in 2000.
