Company intelligence / Profile preview
Unitract, which later rebranded as Unilife, was a medical technology company focused on the design, development, and manufacturing of innovative injectable drug delivery systems. The company's primary products included the Unifill line of pre-filled safety syringes, which featured integrated, automated needle retraction mechanisms to prevent needle-stick injuries. Unilife also developed wearable injectors and dual-chamber delivery systems for reconstituted drugs, targeting partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies for the delivery of biologics. The company established significant collaborations with industry leaders such as Sanofi and Amgen to integrate its technology with their therapeutic products. Despite its technological advancements, the company faced severe financial distress and management turnover. Unilife ultimately filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017, leading to the sale of its intellectual property and assets to various creditors and partners.
