University Medical Center of El Paso

University Medical Center of El Paso is a public, not-for-profit academic medical center and regional safety-net hospital serving El Paso and the surrounding Southwest border region. The organization operates as the flagship hospital of the El Paso County Hospital District and provides tertiary and quaternary care across trauma, stroke, cardiology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s health, rehabilitation, pharmacy, imaging, and outpatient clinic services. UMC is the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and it serves as a major teaching and research site for medical, pharmacy, and other health professional trainees. Rather than functioning as a drug-development biotech or pharma company, UMC is primarily a healthcare delivery organization with hospital, ambulatory, surgical, and specialty care operations. It is also expanding regional care infrastructure, including plans tied to bond financing and development of a comprehensive cancer center in partnership with Texas Tech.
