US Biomaterials Corporation was a pioneering medical technology company focused on the commercialization of bioactive glass for regenerative medicine. The company was founded to develop applications for 45S5 Bioglass, a specialized glass composition invented by Dr. Larry Hench that can chemically bond with bone and soft tissue. Its product portfolio included synthetic bone graft substitutes such as NovaBone and Perioglas, which were used extensively in orthopedic and dental surgeries. US Biomaterials played a critical role in transitioning bioactive glass from a laboratory discovery to a widely used clinical material. In the early 2000s, the company's operations were divested, leading to the formation of NovaBone Products for orthopedics and NovaMin Technology for dental care.
