Company intelligence / Profile preview
US BioTec was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Louisville, Kentucky, that focused on the development and commercialization of therapies for niche medical markets and orphan diseases. The company is most recognized for its role in the commercialization of Apokyn (apomorphine hydrochloride injection), a treatment for the acute, intermittent treatment of "off" episodes in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease. In 2010, US BioTec was acquired by US WorldMeds, which integrated US BioTec's portfolio and expertise into its own operations. This acquisition significantly strengthened US WorldMeds' presence in the central nervous system (CNS) therapeutic area. Today, the products originally managed by US BioTec continue to be marketed under the US WorldMeds brand.
