Vaceris

Vaceris was a biotechnology company focused on the development of novel vaccines and immunotherapies targeting antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections, specifically Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The company's lead programs utilized recombinant protein technology to target key virulence factors such as alpha-hemolysin and various leukocidins. Founded as a spin-out from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Vaceris aimed to address the significant unmet medical need in hospital-acquired infections. In 2014, the company was acquired by Integrated BioTherapeutics (IBT), which integrated Vaceris's vaccine candidates into its own infectious disease pipeline. The technology continues to be developed under IBT's multi-component vaccine programs, specifically the IBT-V02 candidate.
