VASCLIP

Vasclip (VMBC, LLC) was a medical device company based in Roseville, Minnesota, that developed a proprietary implantable clip for male sterilization. The company's flagship product, the Vasclip, was a polymeric device designed to provide a less invasive alternative to traditional vasectomy by occluding the vas deferens without the need for cutting, suturing, or cauterization. The device received FDA 510(k) clearance in 2002 and was marketed for its potential to reduce post-operative pain and recovery time. Despite initial commercial availability and high patient satisfaction in early clinical trials, the company eventually ceased operations and discontinued the product. The withdrawal followed reports of higher failure rates in achieving permanent sterilization compared to conventional surgical methods. The company was founded by Jim Segermark, who later founded InSitu Biologics.
