VCU Health operates as an integrated academic medical center with over 800 physicians in more than 200 specialties. It houses one of only two NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Virginia and the region’s only full-service children’s hospital. The system leads or participates in numerous innovative research programs and clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas. It serves as the largest safety net hospital in the state with high-acuity services such as transplant, trauma care, oncology, orthopedics, general medicine/surgery. Its mission encompasses patient care excellence, cutting-edge medical education/training for health professionals through six health sciences schools affiliated with Virginia Commonwealth University.
