Venice Hospital

Venice Hospital, later known as Venice Regional Bayfront Health, was a 312-bed acute care facility located in Venice, Florida, that served the Sarasota County community for over 70 years. Established in 1951, the hospital provided a wide range of medical services, including specialized cardiovascular care, orthopedic surgery, and emergency medicine. The facility underwent several ownership transitions, eventually becoming part of the Community Health Systems (CHS) network in 2014. In its final years of operation, it was rebranded as ShorePoint Health Venice. Due to the opening of new competing hospitals in the region and challenges with its aging infrastructure, the hospital officially ceased all operations in September 2022. Its closure represented a significant change in the local healthcare landscape of the Florida Gulf Coast.
