Company intelligence / Profile preview
Veran Medical was a U.S. medical device company focused on image-guided, minimally invasive technologies for thoracic diagnostics and interventional pulmonology. Its flagship commercial product was the SPiN Thoracic Navigation System, an electromagnetic navigation platform designed to help physicians navigate to, localize, and biopsy peripheral pulmonary lesions and other suspicious lung nodules. The company combined pre-procedure CT imaging, respiratory gating, and real-time instrument tracking to improve access to hard-to-reach lesions and support earlier lung cancer diagnosis. Veran Medical was acquired by Olympus in December 2020 to expand Olympus' respiratory solutions portfolio. In September 2023, Olympus announced discontinuation of the manufacture and sale of Veran Medical Technologies' electromagnetic navigation systems and related products, so Veran is best characterized as an acquired, no-longer-operating standalone company rather than an active independent business.
