Versapharm was a specialty generic pharmaceutical company that focused on the development, manufacture, and marketing of niche generic products. The company's portfolio was particularly strong in the dermatology and tuberculosis therapeutic areas, providing essential medications for specialized patient populations. Founded in 1995 and based in Marietta, Georgia, Versapharm built a robust pipeline of Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs) before its acquisition. In August 2014, the company was acquired by Akorn for $440 million, a move intended to expand Akorn's footprint in the generic dermatology market. Following the acquisition, its operations were integrated into Akorn, which subsequently faced financial difficulties and ceased operations in 2023.
