Versigen

Versigen was a biotechnology company based in the Asia-Pacific region that specialized in regenerative medicine and cell-based therapies. The company was primarily known for holding the rights to MACI (Matrix-induced Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation) and Epicel (cultured epidermal autografts) in various international markets. Originally a subsidiary of Genzyme (a Sanofi company), Versigen managed the commercialization and clinical development of these advanced therapies in markets including Australia and Singapore. In June 2014, Versigen was acquired by Aastrom Biosciences, which later rebranded as Vericel Corporation. This strategic acquisition enabled Vericel to expand its portfolio of autologous cell therapies and establish a presence in the Asia-Pacific market. Today, the assets formerly held by Versigen are integrated into Vericel's global operations.
