VertuBio

VertuBio was a biotechnology company dedicated to the development of gene therapies for rare, monogenic diseases of the central nervous system. The company was founded by leading experts in the field of adeno-associated virus (AAV) technology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its primary asset was a clinical-stage gene therapy program for Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN), which was developed in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health. In August 2020, VertuBio was acquired by Taysha Gene Therapies to form the core of its CNS-focused pipeline. The acquisition integrated VertuBio's specialized AAV9 delivery technology and its lead GAN candidate into Taysha's broader portfolio.
