Company intelligence / Profile preview
Viamet Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of novel small molecule inhibitors of metalloenzymes. The company utilized its proprietary MIDAS platform to design highly selective therapies for infectious diseases and oncology, with a primary focus on antifungal agents. Its lead candidate, oteseconazole (VT-1161), was developed for the treatment of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis and eventually received FDA approval under the brand name Vivjoa. In 2018, Viamet was acquired by NovaQuest Capital Management in a transaction that led to the formation of Mycovia Pharmaceuticals. Mycovia now manages the commercialization and further development of Viamet's original antifungal portfolio.
