Company intelligence / Profile preview
VIASYS Respiratory Care was a prominent global medical technology company focused on respiratory care, critical care, and neurological diagnostics. Formed in 2001 as a spin-off from Thermo Electron Corporation, the company managed a diverse portfolio of market-leading brands such as Bear Medical, Bird Products, SensorMedics, and Nicolet. Its core business included the development and manufacture of mechanical ventilators, pulmonary function testing systems, and neurodiagnostic equipment. VIASYS was particularly recognized for its expertise in neonatal ventilation and high-frequency oscillatory technology. In 2007, the company was acquired by Cardinal Health for approximately $1.5 billion and was later integrated into CareFusion, which was subsequently acquired by Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) in 2015. The legacy of VIASYS continues through BD's extensive respiratory and procedural solutions.
