VIMRx Pharmaceuticals was a biopharmaceutical company that operated during the 1990s, focusing on the development of cell therapies and antiviral treatments. The company's most significant milestone was the acquisition of Baxter International's immunotherapy business, which provided VIMRx with the Isolex 300 Magnetic Cell Selection System, a leading technology for isolating CD34+ stem cells. Following this acquisition, the company rebranded as Nexell Therapeutics in 1999 to emphasize its commitment to the cell therapy market. VIMRx also conducted clinical trials for VIMRxyn (hypericin) as a potential treatment for HIV/AIDS. Although the company successfully commercialized its cell selection technology, its successor, Nexell, eventually ceased operations and liquidated its assets in 2003.
