Company intelligence / Profile preview
Viralliance was a biotechnology company specializing in the development and commercialization of diagnostic assays for viral and cancer drug resistance. Its flagship product, Phenoscript, is a recombinant phenotypic assay used to determine HIV-1 coreceptor tropism (R5 vs. X4) and susceptibility to entry inhibitors, a critical step for the clinical use of CCR5 antagonists like maraviroc. Originally a subsidiary of BioAlliance Pharma, the company was acquired by Eurofins Scientific in 2005 to bolster its clinical diagnostic portfolio. Viralliance's technology played a significant role in major clinical trials and routine patient monitoring before the company was eventually liquidated in 2016.
