ViroNovative is a Dutch biotechnology company and a spin-off from the Erasmus Medical Center (Erasmus MC) in Rotterdam, specializing in the development of solutions for Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV). Established in 2002 following the discovery of hMPV by Erasmus MC researchers, the company holds the foundational intellectual property for the virus and its diagnostic and therapeutic applications. ViroNovative operates primarily through a licensing and co-development model, with over 20 active licenses granted to major diagnostic and pharmaceutical partners worldwide. Its research focus encompasses the development of diagnostics, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and antivirals to address the significant burden of hMPV-related respiratory diseases in pediatric, elderly, and immunocompromised populations.
