Virosome Biologicals Group (VBG) was a Dutch biotechnology company specializing in the development of vaccine delivery platforms based on adjuvanted virosomes. The company's proprietary technology utilizes reconstituted viral envelopes to enhance immune responses by targeting antigen-presenting cells and B cells, specifically interacting with Toll-like receptors. VBG's lead programs included an intranasal influenza vaccine in Phase 2 clinical trials and a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine in preclinical development. Originally acquired by Norwood Immunology in 2006, the company was subsequently sold to Mymetics Corporation in 2009, where its technology continues to underpin a portfolio of mucosal vaccines for infectious diseases.
