Viruvation

Viruvation B.V. was a Dutch biotechnology company based in Leiden, specializing in the development of RNA interference (RNAi)-based antiviral therapies. The company focused on creating therapeutic vaccines for HIV/AIDS by utilizing small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) and short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs) to silence viral gene expression. Viruvation collaborated extensively with academic institutions like Wageningen University and the University of Amsterdam to advance its proprietary technology, which included SV40-based production systems for viral vectors. Although the company was a pioneer in the RNAi space in the early 2000s, it is no longer active, with its founders moving on to other ventures such as Amarna Therapeutics.
