Visionary Imaging

Visionary Imaging, LLC was a medical technology company specializing in the development of hyperpolarized gas MRI for the functional imaging of the lungs. Founded as a spin-out from the University of Virginia, the company developed proprietary technology using hyperpolarized Xenon-129, an inhaled contrast agent, to provide high-resolution, non-invasive visualization of lung ventilation and gas exchange. This approach allows for the detection of early-stage respiratory disease and the monitoring of treatment efficacy in conditions such as COPD and asthma. In 2017, Visionary Imaging merged with Polarean, Inc. to form Polarean Imaging plc, which successfully obtained FDA approval for the XENOVIEW imaging agent in 2022.
