Vital Strategies

Vital Strategies is an active global public health nonprofit headquartered in New York City that works with governments, civil society organizations and other partners to strengthen public health systems. The organization focuses on scalable, evidence-based policy and implementation programs across areas such as tobacco control, overdose prevention, road safety, food policy, air pollution and health, childhood lead poisoning prevention, cancer registries and health data systems. It was launched under the Vital Strategies name in January 2016 through the merger of World Lung Foundation and The Union North America, while building on earlier legacy work dating back to the early 2000s. Unlike a traditional biotech or pharmaceutical company, Vital Strategies does not appear to develop proprietary therapeutic products; instead, it provides technical assistance, program design, advocacy support, analytics and implementation services to improve population health outcomes globally.
