Vitreq

Vitreq is a Netherlands-based ophthalmic medical device company focused on products for vitreoretinal surgery. The company develops and manufactures disposable and reusable surgical instruments, laser probes, light fibers, chandelier illumination products, cannulas, forceps, scissors, backflush instruments, and surgical liquids used in retinal procedures. Founded in the mid-2010s by ophthalmic industry veterans, Vitreq built its business around close collaboration with retinal surgeons and in-house R&D, engineering, quality/regulatory, and manufacturing capabilities. Vitreq was acquired by Beaver-Visitec International, now BVI Medical, and its products continue to be commercialized as part of BVI's vitreoretinal portfolio. The business is commercial-stage and operates in ophthalmic medtech rather than drug development.
