Vytra Health Plans

Vytra Health Plans is a managed care organization and health insurance provider based in Melville, New York. Founded in 1991, the company primarily offers Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans to individuals and employer groups, with a significant focus on serving New York City municipal employees and retirees. Vytra was acquired by the Health Insurance Plan of Greater New York (HIP) in 2001, which subsequently merged with Group Health Incorporated (GHI) in 2006 to form EmblemHealth. Although the legal entity was merged into its parent organization, Vytra continues to operate as a distinct health plan brand under the EmblemHealth umbrella. Members of Vytra plans have access to an extensive network of over 13,000 private practice physicians and healthcare facilities across Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.
