Wachovia Securities was the investment banking and brokerage division of Wachovia Corporation, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. The firm provided a comprehensive suite of financial services, including retail brokerage, wealth management, and corporate and investment banking. While not a life sciences company, it was a major player in the healthcare sector as a financial intermediary, providing capital raising and strategic advisory services to biotech and pharma companies. Its equity research department was well-regarded for its coverage of the healthcare and medical technology industries. Following the acquisition of its parent company by Wells Fargo in December 2008, Wachovia Securities was rebranded and integrated into Wells Fargo Advisors.
