Wampole Laboratories was a specialized developer and manufacturer of diagnostic test kits for clinical laboratories and point-of-care settings. The company was widely recognized for its expertise in immunology and infectious disease testing, producing staple products for pregnancy, mononucleosis, and various bacterial infections. Originally established in the 19th century, it became a division of Carter-Wallace before being acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations in 2002. Following the acquisition of Alere by Abbott Laboratories in 2017, Wampole's legacy products and technologies have been integrated into Abbott's global diagnostics portfolio.
