Wang Laboratories

Wang Laboratories was a prominent American computer company founded in 1951 by An Wang, initially known for its electronic calculators and later for its industry-leading word processing systems and minicomputers. During the 1980s, the company expanded into the healthcare sector through its Wang Healthcare Information Systems division, providing software solutions for hospital management and clinical data. Despite its early dominance in office automation, the company struggled to transition to the personal computer era and filed for bankruptcy in 1992. Its healthcare assets and remaining service business were eventually acquired by Getronics in 1999.
