Company intelligence / Profile preview
Wasserstein Perella & Co. was a premier boutique investment bank founded in 1988 by Bruce Wasserstein and Joseph Perella, formerly of First Boston. The firm specialized in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and played a defining role in the corporate restructuring and takeover era of the late 1980s and 1990s. While not a life sciences or biotechnology company, the firm provided high-level strategic advisory services for numerous significant transactions within the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. In 2000, the firm was acquired by Dresdner Bank for approximately $1.37 billion and integrated into Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Its legacy continues through successor firms such as Perella Weinberg Partners and Wasserstein & Co.
