Company intelligence / Profile preview
Watson Nephrology was the specialized renal business unit of Watson Pharmaceuticals, a leading specialty pharmaceutical company. The division focused on the development and commercialization of therapies for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Its core portfolio featured prominent injectable iron therapies, including Ferrlecit (sodium ferric gluconate complex) and INFeD (iron dextran), which are critical for managing iron deficiency anemia in dialysis patients. Additionally, the division offered the NephroVite line of renal vitamins to support the nutritional needs of kidney patients. Following Watson Pharmaceuticals' acquisition of Actavis and subsequent rebranding, the nephrology franchise became part of the larger Actavis and later Allergan and Teva organizations.
