WaveFront Sciences was a specialized medical technology company focused on the development of wavefront sensing systems for ophthalmic and industrial applications. Founded in 1996, the company became a pioneer in high-resolution eye measurement, producing the Complete Ophthalmic Analysis System (COAS) to map optical aberrations. Its technology was instrumental in the advancement of custom LASIK procedures and the characterization of intraocular lenses. In 2007, the company was acquired by Abbott Medical Optics (AMO) to bolster its refractive and cataract surgery diagnostic offerings. Today, its core technologies continue to influence the vision care products under Johnson & Johnson Vision.
