Weifa

Weifa is a leading Norwegian pharmaceutical company primarily focused on the development and commercialization of consumer health products and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines. Established in 1940, the company built a dominant market position in Norway with household brands like Paracet and Ibux for pain and fever management. Historically, Weifa also operated a significant business in active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), specifically metformin, which was later spun off into Vistin Pharma in 2015. In 2017, Weifa was acquired by Karo Pharma (now Karo Healthcare) for approximately $330 million, integrating its extensive portfolio into Karo's Nordic healthcare operations.
