Wessanen is a longstanding European food company best known for organic, natural, vegetarian, fair-trade, and nutritionally oriented consumer food brands rather than pharmaceutical or biotech products. Historically headquartered in the Netherlands, the business operated across several European markets and managed brands including Bjorg, Bonneterre, Clipper, Kallø, Whole Earth, Zonnatura, Allos, Alter Eco, Tartex, Gayelord Hauser, and Isola Bio. The company was acquired in 2019 by a consortium led by PAI Partners and Charles Jobson and later rebranded at group level as Ecotone. Although the company participates in the broader wellness and healthy-living food space, it is not a life sciences, biotech, pharma, or healthcare therapeutics company.
