West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative

The West Michigan Science and Technology Initiative (WMSTI) was a life science-focused incubator and economic development organization based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Established as a partnership between Grand Valley State University, the Van Andel Institute, and the City of Grand Rapids, it was designed to catalyze the growth of the region's biotechnology and medical device sectors. WMSTI provided early-stage companies with access to specialized laboratory space, business development resources, and funding opportunities. The initiative was a key driver in the development of the 'Medical Mile' in Grand Rapids before its functions were transitioned into the GR Current incubator and subsequently integrated into broader regional economic development programs.
