Western Maryland Health System

UPMC Western Maryland, formerly known as Western Maryland Health System (WMHS), is a regional healthcare provider based in Cumberland, Maryland. The system provides a comprehensive range of medical services, including emergency care, cardiovascular services, oncology, and orthopedics, to residents of the tri-state area of Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Formed through the merger of Memorial and Sacred Heart hospitals, it operates a state-of-the-art medical center that opened in 2009. In February 2020, the system officially integrated into the UPMC network, enhancing its access to specialized clinical resources and research. The facility serves as a vital healthcare hub for the Appalachian region, offering both inpatient and outpatient care.
