Weston Medical was a pioneering British medical technology company that developed the Intraject needle-free injection system. The Intraject device was a pre-filled, disposable injector that used a high-pressure gas source to deliver liquid medication through the skin, offering a painless alternative to traditional needle-and-syringe injections. The company targeted high-volume markets such as diabetes, migraine, and growth hormone therapy, securing partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms including GlaxoSmithKline and Roche. Despite the technological promise, Weston Medical struggled with the transition to large-scale manufacturing and faced severe financial constraints. In 2003, the company entered administration and its intellectual property and assets were subsequently acquired by Bespak.
