Westscheme

Westscheme was a prominent Australian superannuation fund that became a key institutional investor in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors. Based in Western Australia, the fund was distinguished by its willingness to invest in early-stage venture capital and university commercialization projects, notably as a member of the Uniseed fund and the Murdoch Westscheme Enterprise Partnership. Westscheme provided critical funding to numerous Australian biotech startups, including Pharmaxis, Dimerix Bioscience, and Hatchtech. In 2011, the fund merged with AustralianSuper, the nation's largest industry superannuation fund, which subsequently took over its investment portfolio.
