Company intelligence / Profile preview
Wilcox Natural Products was a leading American supplier and processor of botanical raw materials and standardized herbal extracts. Founded originally as the Wilcox Drug Company in 1900, the firm became a key player in the North American herbal market, providing high-quality ingredients like saw palmetto and St. John's wort to the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors. The company was acquired by Shaman Pharmaceuticals in 1998 in a strategic move to combine Shaman's ethnobotanical drug discovery with a steady revenue stream from raw material sales. However, following Shaman's subsequent financial challenges and bankruptcy filings, the Wilcox operations were eventually integrated or sold off.
