Windancer Technologies was a biotechnology company focused on developing innovative sustained-release drug delivery systems for ophthalmic applications. The company's primary technology was a subconjunctival injection platform designed to provide long-term delivery of therapeutics for chronic eye diseases, including age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. By enabling less frequent dosing, the platform aimed to improve patient compliance and clinical outcomes compared to standard intravitreal injections. The technology was engineered to be compatible with a wide range of molecules, including both small molecules and large-molecule biologics. In December 2016, Windancer Technologies was acquired by Bausch + Lomb to enhance its pharmaceutical pipeline and integrate the delivery system with its proprietary compounds.
