Windy Hill Medical developed a platform to deliver chemotherapeutic and hormonal agents directly into the milk ducts using a specialized catheter. Preclinical studies at Johns Hopkins showed that this approach could inhibit development of breast cancer in rodent models with higher local tissue levels and reduced systemic toxicity. A Phase I dose-escalation study demonstrated safety and effective distribution within human breast ducts prior to mastectomy, with minimal toxicity at appropriate doses.
