WITec

WITec is a German scientific instrumentation company best known for confocal Raman imaging microscopes and correlative microscopy systems used in research and industrial analysis. The company develops and manufactures Raman, atomic force microscopy, scanning near-field optical microscopy, and integrated multimodal systems, with applications spanning life science research, pharmaceuticals, materials science, semiconductors, food, geology, and energy storage. Founded in 1997 in Ulm, Germany, WITec built a reputation as an innovator in 3D Raman imaging and modular microscopy workflows. In 2021, the company was acquired by Oxford Instruments and became part of its Materials Analysis business while retaining the WITec brand. WITec is primarily a tools-and-platform company rather than a therapeutics developer, so it does not have a drug pipeline in the biotech sense.
