Company intelligence / Profile preview
World Health Alternatives was a prominent medical staffing company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that provided healthcare professionals such as nurses and therapists to hospitals and medical facilities. Founded in 2002, the company experienced rapid growth through a series of acquisitions and was publicly traded on the OTC Bulletin Board. However, the company collapsed in 2006 following the revelation of a massive accounting fraud and tax evasion scheme orchestrated by its senior executives. The scandal led to a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and the eventual imprisonment of its CEO, Richard McDonald. Its remaining assets and operations were acquired by Jackson Healthcare in April 2006.
