Wuesthoff Health System

Wuesthoff Health System was a comprehensive healthcare provider based in Brevard County, Florida, featuring two main acute-care hospitals in Rockledge and Melbourne. Founded in 1941 as a single community hospital, it expanded into a regional system offering services such as home health, hospice, and specialized outpatient care. The organization transitioned from a non-profit to a for-profit entity when it was acquired by Community Health Systems in 2010 for approximately $145 million. In 2017, the system was acquired by Steward Health Care, which subsequently rebranded the facilities as Rockledge Regional Medical Center and Melbourne Regional Medical Center. The system's legacy includes a long history of providing critical medical services to the Space Coast community, including advanced cardiac and stroke care. Following the 2024 bankruptcy of Steward Health Care, the hospitals were slated for transition to new ownership.
