Xenova Group

Xenova Group was a UK-based biotechnology company specializing in the development of innovative therapies for cancer and addiction. The company's portfolio focused on two primary areas: small molecule inhibitors designed to overcome multi-drug resistance in tumors and therapeutic vaccines for infectious diseases and substance abuse. Its lead candidate, Tariquidar, was a potent P-glycoprotein inhibitor that reached Phase 3 clinical trials for lung cancer. Xenova expanded its capabilities through the strategic acquisitions of Cantab Pharmaceuticals and KS Biomedix, gaining access to the DISC vaccine platform. The company was eventually acquired by the private equity firm Celtic Pharma in 2005.
