Xhemplar is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to developing transformative gene therapies for X-linked genetic disorders. Founded by Dr. James M. Wilson, a pioneer in gene therapy from the University of Pennsylvania, the company was established as part of the G2 Bio Companies portfolio with significant backing from Temasek. Xhemplar utilizes proprietary adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector technologies originating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Gene Therapy Program. Its primary focus is on addressing unmet medical needs in rare diseases, with a lead program targeting X-linked retinoschisis (XLRS), a condition that causes progressive vision loss.
